Built in1787 ,this pub was thought to be named after the puppet show performances that took place in the near by piazza for the children of flower-sellers-Covent Garden originally being a flower market.
This is a listed building , retaining much of the original brick and stone work . It’s known as being one of the very few buildings in the area that escaped bomb damage during the blitz.
The balcony overlooks covent garden piazza and is the perfect place to sit and watch the various street performers. The famous food is here the mash, fish and chips and pies. No wonder the rest of the world believes the British don’t do good food but one can enjoy good food here less than 10 pounds.
