The George

There has been a pub here since 1666, when this was the main road out of London. The pub changed name in 1700 to THE GREAT TREE than same time before 1800 back to the George.

Used to be a Rat & Parrot (S&N Retail) for a few years until 2004, now a "Taylor Walker" branded pub, a name confusingly reinstated by Spirit.

The bar is built for high traffic with wood and flagstone flooring, perfect for the many football fans locally as there are plenty of screens. Little remains of its former guises save for some wood panelling and a mounted Stags head glaring down. There is a small patio to the rear, largely given over to smokers. Hot and cold meals are available daily from 12.00 - 21.00, a standard menu offers main courses between £6 - 8.

(The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
