it was built by Sir Thomas Cubitt.Pub sign shows the arms of the company and the plumber says the pub was named in honor of the traders who helped build magnificent houses that surround it.More specifically, it would have been a meeting place and exchange informal working for plumbers. Butlers, grooms, valets and other emplyees who served inthe big houses, have met here too.The weapons Plumber has a place in recent history. It was in this pub a wet November night in 1974 that Lady Lucan arrivedterrified, shocked and bleeding. She said she was attacked by an intruder, and hisnanny had been murdered. Later that night, her husband, Lord Lucan, briefly visited a friend in Sussex. He then disappeared ... never to be seen.
